Ulstein Power & Control has been awarded a contract with AVIC Weihai Shipyard Co. Ltd. on power and control deliveries for two subsea rock installation vessels for Jan De Nul Group.
The vessels will be used for rock installation to protect cables and other subsea structures at depths up to 600 metres.
“Ulstein Power & Control has solid expertise in the offshore segment, and with this contract they will be entering a new segment. This is a very important contract, which proves the competitive edge and flexibility of our systems and solutions portfolio. She adds that the design area in Ulstein Group recently delivered design and solutions for a ship in this segment.
The Ulstein Power & Control delivery includes the Power package consisting of generators, switchboards, motor control centre, thruster frequency converters and motors, the automation system ULSTEIN IAS®, DP system and thruster control as well as the commissioning.
During the assembly of the package, focus has been on achieving the best possible system integration between different products and systems.

Ulstein will be delivering the products and systems in 2016. The vessels are scheduled for delivery from the yard in 2017. They measure 95 m in length and 22 m in the beam.
Jan De Nul Group, headquartered in Luxembourg, is an expert in dredging and marine construction activities, and in specialised services for the offshore industry of oil, gas and renewable energy.
AVIC Weihai Shipyard Co. Ltd. is based in the Shandong province of China. The yard, established in 1951, started the production of vessels for the international market in 1998. AVIC International has been main shareholder since 2011.
