Offshore wind vessel positioned quayside
The Yard number 315 newbuild at Ulstein Verft, the Windea TBN for Bernhard Schulte, has been floated out from the outer dock and has now been positioned quayside. The vessel is now getting prepared for her first sea trial in early March.
Out from the shadows - Offshore wind vessel floated out
The next Service Operation Vessel (SOV) for Bernhard Schulte, Yard Number 315 at Ulstein Verft, was floated out from the yard’s dock hall on Sunday afternoon, 26 January 2020. The hybrid vessel has now been positioned in the outer dock for further outfitting and testing.

Yno 315 at Ulstein Verft, the 'Windea TBN', is under construction for Bernhard Schulte. The Service Operation Vessel for the offshore wind industry was docked into our dock hall on 8 December 2019. The paint process is currently well underway.
Testing the Energy Management System for the Yno 315
The Energy Management System on Bernhard Schulte’s next offshore wind vessel was recently tested in the lab at Ulstein. Soon, real-life testing will commence when the vessel leaves for sea trial.
Hybrid power solutions reduce fuel consumption and emissions. Depending on setup and operational profile, CO2 emissions can be significantly reduced. The hybrid system also allows for completely emission-free periods, which is making a great difference in terms of operational expenditure and sustainability.
Batteries for yard number 315
In cooperation with shipowner Bernhard Schulte, Ulstein Design & Solutions has designed a diesel-electric propulsion system assisted by batteries to reduce operating hours on the main engines, save fuel and reduce environmental footprint. The hybrid system will be introduced on yard number 315 at Ulstein Verft.

Operational feedback shows that SOV crews choose to operate the vessels in astern mode while in-field. The 'aft first' experience is improved with the X-STERN, which has been introduced to several offshore wind service ships.

Third offshore wind vessel for Bernhard Schulte getting outfitted
The construction of Bernhard Schulte’s third offshore wind vessel designed by Ulstein is well underway at Ulstein Verft. Initiate work tasks such as steel outfitting, mechanical outfitting, electrical steel work, piping and insulation, have now commenced, and cable pulling will start within a few days.
Kick-off for the next vessel in offshore renewables
The steel cutting ceremony of yard number 315, the next offshore wind vessel for Bernhard Schulte, was carried out on 10 Sept 2018. Steel cutting is considered as first step of a newbuild project. The Service Operation Vessel (SOV) is of the SX195 design from Ulstein, and is destined to operate for GE Renewable Energy.

Ulstein Verft has signed a ship building contract with the Germany-based Bernhard Schulte for a service operation vessel (SOV) of the ULSTEIN SX195 design type developed by Ulstein Design & Solutions AS.
