A CSOV (commissioning service operation vessel) is a purpose-built ship that houses technicians offshore and transfers them safely to wind turbines and installations using a motion-compensated gangway. Ulstein designs CSOV, SOV and Walk-to-Work vessels for offshore wind and oil and gas, built to keep your operations safe, efficient and on schedule.

On 23 June 2026, Hanwha Philly Shipyard delivered the subsea rock installation vessel (SRIV) Acadia to Great Lakes Dredge & Dock. The vessel is the first of its kind under the U.S. flag and is designed by Ulstein Design & Solutions B.V. in the Netherlands.

Construction of the first of two advanced fibre-optic cable-laying vessels for OMS Group, the CS Resilience, officially began with a steel-cutting ceremony on 7 July 2026. The hulls are being built by CRIST, Poland, and will be completed, outfitted and commissioned at Ulstein Verft, Norway.

A front-row seat to the TWIN X-STERN® series: Onboard a typical CSOV, the ship's hospital is stocked with seasickness tablets and dry biscuits for technicians unaccustomed to offshore conditions. On Windea Carnot, demand for seasickness remedies is nearly zero. Instead, the three-flavour ice cream machine has become one of the most popular features.

Bernhard Schulte Offshore (BSO) continues to grow its modern offshore wind fleet with the addition of Windea Clarke, further strengthening its position in the global energy market. Delivered from Ulstein Verft on 2 July 2026, the vessel marks another milestone in BSO’s ambitious fleet development programme.

Subsea rock installation may be one of the less visible parts of an offshore project, but it plays a critical role in protecting some of its most valuable assets. The focus is increasing due to the current geopolitical situation.

The cable-laying vessel Nexans Electra, the offshore wind service vessel Windea Carnot, and the energy subsea construction vessel Rem Pioneer have been built at Ulstein Verft and Myklebust Verft, respectively, both of which are part of the maritime cluster in northwest Norway. All three vessels are now nominated for “Ship of the Year”.

For vessels in operation, it is essential that systems perform optimally many years after delivery. During a recent service assignment in Brazil on Sea1 Marataizes, Ulstein Power & Control sent one of its most experienced service engineers, together with one of its newest, to ensure knowledge transfer and continuity.

Ulstein Group recorded revenues of NOK 3.0 billion and an operating profit of NOK 219.2 million in 2025.

Ship operators face mounting pressure from environmental reporting, with crews and office staff spending hours on manual processes. Ulstein Digital now launches two AI-powered solutions to automate this: an MRV solution for EU/UK MRV and EU ETS, and a NOx solution for quarterly reporting in Norwegian waters, reducing risk while freeing up time and resources.

Acta Marine has taken delivery of Acta Gemini, the third vessel in a series of four ULSTEIN SX216 Construction Service Operation Vessels (CSOVs) featuring the ULSTEIN TWIN X-STERN® design.

Why vessel operability matters more than ever for reducing LCOE; Vessel uptime has become a critical enabler of project performance.

Ulstein Verft has delivered Nexans Electra, a DP3 cable‑laying vessel (CLV), to Nexans. The vessel further strengthens Nexans’ capacity to support the global energy transition by installing advanced subsea power and communication cable systems.
