December 1999: The large conversion of the Normand Tonjer, commenced in late October, is in a hectic period. The ship is scheduled to be ready on 23 February 2000, after 4 months. The ship was built as a PSV and will be converted into an ROV/survey vessel.

"The conversion of Normand Cutter has been a pilot project. The vessel has undergone an extensive conversion; though it was the time we had available which presented the biggest challenge. The whole job was completed in just over six months," says Project Manager Roar Riise of Ulstein Verft AS.

After the launch of the ULSTEIN X-BOW® concept in 2005, the bow has received, or been nominated for, a number of Innovation Awards. The first was the Norwegian Engineering Feat of the Year from the magazine “Teknisk Ukeblad” in 2005.

Island Constructor won Offshore Support Journal’s prestigious 2008 ‘Ship of the Year’ award. The vessel is suited for both well intervention and construction work.

The concept of ULSTEIN BRIDGE VISION is awarded as the best innovation idea in Norway. ULSTEIN BRIDGE VISION is a concept for a modern ship bridge where safety in complex operations has been given major focus. A total of close to 700 ideas were received for the contest.

The Inspection, Maintenance and Repair (IMR) vessel ‘Seven Viking’, designed and built by ULSTEIN, was announced ‘Ship of the Year 2013’ by the maritime magazine ‘Skipsrevyen’ at Nor-Shipping.

The Brazilian shipowner Oceana Offshore will be building two platform supply vessels (PSVs) with an option for two additional vessels based on the PX105 design from ULSTEIN. The vessels will be built at the new yard, Oceana Estaleiro, in Itajai, Brazil.

Heerema Marine Contractors’ new Deepwater Construction Vessel ‘Aegir’, a customised ULSTEIN SOC 5000 design developed by Ulstein Sea of Solutions, has won the Dutch KVNR Shipping Award.

July 2014: The Ulstein Verft newbuild, the OCV vessel ‘Island Performer’, is destined for American waters. Contracted by FTO, she will serve her first five years as a riserless well intervention vessel (RLWI) in the Gulf of Mexico. The ship can perform operations at depths down to 3,000 metres.

The ship was the winner of the OSJ Offshore Renewables Award 2014. This Prize is awarded to a company, project or product that has made a significant contribution to the development of the offshore renewables market.

On 7 November 2014, foreman Paul Myrvågnes at Ulstein Verft laid the lucky coin for yno 302, a construction vessel for Island Offshore/Edison Chouest Offshore. Next, the first section, a double bottom, was positioned in the dock hall. The keel laying ceremony marks the official start-up of the construction period.

The X-STERN®, awarded the Next Generation Ship Award 2015, is a natural evolvement of the X-BOW. The first two design and shipbuilding contracts have been signed for the sustainable wind energy market, for delivery to Bernhard Schulte. The SOV vessels will be servicing offshore wind installations for Siemens.
The X-STERN leads to an increased operational window.
Ulstein Verft has signed a ship building contract with the Germany-based Bernhard Schulte for two service operation vessels (SOVs) of the ULSTEIN SX175 design. "Delivery schedule reliability was our number one priority when choosing the ship yard", comments Matthias Müller at Bernhard Schulte.

With the latest contract for two offshore wind service vessels for Bernhard Schulte/WINDEA Offshore, ULSTEIN has achieved 100 sales of the X-BOW hull line design. The milestone was achieved 10 years after the launch of the X-BOW design in 2005.

Britoil Offshore Services Pte Ltd's ULSTEIN PX121 newbuild, the "Britoil Energy", was launched successfully today at PT. Britoil Offshore Indonesia, Britoil's own shipyard on the island of Batam.

Two vessels are currently at Ulstein Verft for aftermarket services, and a third is arriving shortly. One of these is the 'Olympic Hercules', a milestone vessel to ULSTEIN. She was the very first ULSTEIN design, and her delivery marked the opening of our dock hall, in January 2002.

​Ship designers from Ulstein visited three different Ulstein designed ships operating in the North Sea during the winter of 2015. The purpose was to understand operations and to retrieve inputs from the crews, in order to further develop and improve our ship designs and solutions.

After the Dutch offshore contractor Van Oord awarded the design and equipment contract for their new subsea rock installation (SRI) vessel ‘Bravenes’ to Ulstein in September 2014 and contracting Sinopacific for the construction of the vessel, first steel has now been cut for this innovative vessel.
