Coldbending of pipes at Ulstein Verft

Pipe fabrication and cold bending

Our cold bending process results in pipes of consistent quality and long service life. The process shapes the pipes without heating, preserving the material properties and reducing internal stresses. At the same time, it minimises the need for welded joints, increasing structural integrity and reducing the risk of leaks.

Through our affiliated company, we also offer hot-dip galvanising, an effective, long-term corrosion protection solution for steel structures and components.

Pipe bending and prefabrication of pipe systems

Extensive experience – reliable deliveries

Since 1996, the pipe department at Ulstein Verft has delivered prefabricated piping systems for vessels. The service was established to ensure control over a critical part of the shipbuilding supply chain and has since developed into an important part of our overall delivery capability

Fast start-up – simple and efficient

With us, pipe production can start quickly. There is no need to supply ISO drawings; images and a few basic measurements are all we require to begin production. This saves time and ensures a smooth process.

Broad expertise – services for shipyards and other industries

We provide services for internal projects and external customers. With extensive experience from newbuilds and aftermarket assignments at our shipyard, we have also performed a wide range of projects for customers across different industries. We are a reliable and flexible partner, and you are always welcome to get in touch.

Cold bending

We offer short production lead times, extensive experience and a DNV-certified production facility. Our pipe bending machines handle pipes from ND50 to ND200.

Cold bending has several advantages:

Improved quality
The production process results in lower stress in the pipe
Increased safety
Fewer welded joints and reduced risk of leaks
Better for the environment
Reduced waste and energy consumption lower costs and minimise environmental impact
Shorter delivery time
Efficient production ensures short lead times

Dry dock and dock hall

The controlled environment within a dry dock provides an optimal setting for ship construction and ship repair projects. Shielded from the elements, our workers can operate safely and efficiently, unfazed by inclement weather or turbulent waters. This climate-controlled haven ensures precise measurements and fittings and enhances the vessels' longevity and durability, reinforcing our commitment to delivering uncompromising quality.
