The customised ULSTEIN HX118 design features a 5,000-tonne Huisman main crane. This vessel is the first to implement the ULSTEIN U-STERN™, which enables the installation of increasingly larger monopile foundations for the offshore wind segment. At 215 metres long and 56 metres wide, this is also the largest X-BOW® vessel to date, combining high lifting capacity, a flush work deck, DP capabilities, and comfortable accommodation.

2023: Feasibility and concept studies

2025, January: Design contract - Penta-Ocean Construction commissioned Ulstein Design & Solutions B.V. to design a next-generation heavy lift vessel equipped with a fully revolving 5,000-tonne crane, purpose-built to support next-generation offshore wind monopile foundation installations. The vessel has been developed in close collaboration with Penta-Ocean and Huisman, and is Penta-Ocean's first and largest Heavy Lift Vessel. This vessel will greatly strengthen POC’s capacity to execute large-scale offshore wind projects in Japan, playing a key role in advancing the nation’s renewable energy ambitions.

2025, October: Steel cutting ceremony at Seatrium's Nantong and Subic yards. Steel fabrication is also underway at the Subic yard.
