X-BOW® CRUISING - Standing out from the crowd

A vessel with the X-BOW® lines from ULSTEIN is unique, and very different from the usual cruise vessels. The seakeeping characteristics have an impact on comfort, safety, efficiency and operability. And then comes the distinctive looks!

The X-BOW® hull line design is an innovation developed by Ulstein Group, headquartered in Norway.

As offshore specialists, we understand how relentlessly the ocean can punish a vessel. Repeated slamming in head seas can cause sudden decelerations that pose risks to crew and passengers, and can significantly reduce comfort and the ability to rest effectively. The X‑BOW® mitigates this challenge by greatly reducing slamming in head seas.

Comfort

With its smooth wave‑piercing entry, the X‑BOW® markedly improves onboard comfort by reducing noise and vibration throughout the vessel. Even on the lower decks, crew and passengers can rest undisturbed.

The additional volume in the forward section opens opportunities for generous amenities: panoramic observation or underwater lounges, recreational spaces such as cinemas and gaming rooms, dedicated children’s activity areas, or wellness facilities including gyms, spas, and treatment suites.

Safety

Safety on board is enhanced in several ways. The enclosed bow shape minimises sea spray, reducing the risk of slippery or icy decks. The vessel’s gentle wave motion also reduces structural stress and hull fatigue. Furthermore, improved rest quality for crew and passengers contributes directly to operational safety.

Efficiency and operability

The X‑BOW® form reduces speed loss in challenging conditions. This allows the captain to maintain speed without compromising comfort. As a result, the vessel can operate more quickly and efficiently in adverse weather, thereby shortening transit time through rough seas.
