Ship history

IMO 9610183

The Polarcus Adira (first name) was delivered from Ulstein Verft on 21 June 2012. The vessel is based on the ULSTEIN SX134 design.

The vessel can operate in first-year ice of up to 1 metre thickness without the assistance of icebreakers. A number of environmental initiatives were implemented in the design and building of the vessel. Her double hull, along with her advanced bilge water cleaning and ballast water treatment systems, reduces emissions to water to a minimum. The vessel runs on marine gas oil (MGO) with low sulphur content and has high-specification exhaust catalysts that clean the exhaust before it is emitted into the air. She is also equipped with a diesel-electric propulsion system. The vessel's X-BOW® hull line design reduces fuel consumption and therefore emissions to the air. The vessel carries the Clean Design notation from DNV.

'ULSTEIN set the standard with the punctual delivery of Polarcus Amani in March this year, and with the delivery of Polarcus Adira, they have once again lived up to their reputation as a reliable partner with the ability to deliver quality vessels on time,' said CEO of Polarcus, Rolf Rønningen.

Polarcus Adira commenced her first seismic acquisition charter for TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Company (TGS) offshore Norway shortly after delivery.

Milestones

2016: Owner and manager: Polarcus DMCC, Dubai, UAE. Flag: Nassau, Bahamas

2021: In April 2021, Shearwater GeoServices acquired the vessel, and she changed her name to 'SW Baret'.

2026, April: Shearwater Geoservices has entered into an agreement to sell the SW Baret to an undisclosed buyer. The vessel will be converted into a dedicated source vessel. Completion of the transaction is expected in late Q2 2026.
