Do you need to upgrade your automation system?

Vessel owners should use new technology to protect their operations in the digital age. Older automation systems are nearing the end of their useful life, which increases the chances of parts failing and causing downtime. Upgrading these systems is a smart choice that helps ensure smooth operations.

Why you should upgrade

End-of-life
Old components can fail. The parts that move in computers have a limited lifespan, and electronic circuits may break down over time. When hardware components fail, it can lead to system instability, malfunctions, or complete loss of functionality, causing downtime.
Finding spares and support is hard
The time required to locate and obtain spare parts or technical support for old automation systems can lead to extended periods of system downtime and the off hire of your vessel.
System interaction
Older automation systems can lack the features of modern systems. Technology changes quickly, and your system needs to keep up with new requirements and advancements.
Limited flexibility
Your existing system was designed to meet past needs. It may not be flexible enough to adapt to current demands or support new features like data harvesting and reporting.

Integrated Automation System (IAS™)

Power, propulsion, cargo and safety systems on separate screens slow your crew down, whether you're specifying automation for a newbuild or upgrading an ageing system on an existing vessel. Ulstein IAS is an Integrated Automation System (IAS) that brings these systems together in one intuitive platform, built on our X-CONNECT® technology, for both newbuild and retrofit projects. It gives your crew a full overview, faster alarms, and a safer, more reliable vessel at a lower lifecycle cost, backed by a partner that has delivered marine automation systems for decades.

X CONNECT GUI PMS One Line

Power Management System (PMS™)

Keeping a vessel's generators and switchboards balanced gets complex fast, whether you're specifying power management for a newbuild or upgrading an ageing system, and a missed fault can mean a blackout. ULSTEIN PMS is a Power Management System (PMS) that gives complete control of your vessel's power generation from one interface, fully integrated in our X-CONNECT® platform, for both newbuild and retrofit projects. It gives instant feedback on failures as they happen, helps prevent and recover from blackouts, and supports smart circuit breakers that free up switchboard space, for a safer vessel at a lower lifecycle cost.

X CONNECT GUI EMS

Energy Management System (EMS™)

Cutting fuel use and emissions while keeping power stable is a growing demand on every vessel, whether you're specifying hybrid power for a newbuild or adding battery storage to an existing vessel, and getting it wrong risks a blackout or needless wear on your generators. ULSTEIN EMS is an Energy Management System (EMS) that manages power generation and battery storage from one interface, fully integrated with our X-CONNECT® platform and your ULSTEIN PMS, for both newbuild and retrofit hybrid and battery-only systems. It reduces fuel consumption and generator wear, uses battery power as a spinning reserve to help prevent blackouts, and meets varying class society requirements, for a safer, more sustainable vessel at a lower lifecycle cost.

We guide you through the process
