Against the backdrop of the Shanghai Electric wind farm, the Ulstein-designed vessel underwent thorough scrutiny.
On 6 February 2024, the inclining test of the ULSTEIN SX197 vessel for Shanghai Electric was conducted.
On 27 November 2023, the hydrostatics and stability representatives from Ulstein Design & Solutions AS carried out the inclining test of the first offshore wind service vessel for Shanghai Electric. The vessel is an ULSTEIN SX195 design, and the first purpose-made SOV designed for the Chinese Offshore Wind industry.
The first of the two Ulstein-designed Service Operation Vessels (SOV) for Shanghai Electric was launched at the construction yard ZPMC in China on 16 September 2023, the second was launched on 12 October.
Shanghai Electric’s two Ulstein-designed vessels: On 30 Nov 2022, the first SOVs for wind farms in China had their keel laying ceremony at the ZPMC yard. The two vessels of the ULSTEIN SX195 and SX197 designs are ordered by Shanghai Electric, with scheduled delivery time end of 2023 and early 2024 respectively.
On 25 January 2022, the ZPMC shipyard and Ulstein Design & Solutions AS signed the ship design contract on two types of Service Operation Vessels (SOVs) for Shanghai Electric Windpower Group.
These are the first purpose made SOVs designed for the Chinese Offshore Wind industry.
