Increasing competence for future missions

An extensive course in Systems Engineering has started up at the Ulstein Group premises in Ulsteinvik as a means to strengthen the maritime industry. «It is important in a time of downturn to increase our competence in order to be firmly positioned for the future», comments Torild Bugge, HR director at Ulstein.

Of the 23 participants, 22 are employees at Ulstein. For some of these, the course will lead to further Master studies in Systems Engineering.

«Flexibility and change are essential key words, and we see this course as an ideal opportunity to invite our employees to further studies», says Bugge.

There is a global downturn in the maritime industry, which also affects Norway and the county of Møre of Romsdal, where Ulstein Group has its head office. Therefore, the maritime cluster organisations GCE Maritime and Mafoss initiated a course in Systems Engineering.

Systems Engineering is an interdisciplinary field of engineering that focuses on how to design and manage complex engineering systems over their life cycles. The program is held by the University College of Sørøst Norge, and is hosted by professor Alberto Sols.

Through the Mafoss/GCE Maritime initiative, other courses are also underway.

Aukar kompetansen ? klare for framtida.
