2025 SRIV Van Oord

Ulstein designs Van Oord’s next-generation Subsea Rock Installation (SRI) vessels

Van Oord and Ulstein collaborate on a powerful newbuild set to enhance offshore installation capabilities.

Rotterdam, 22 July 2025 – Ulstein is proud to announce its collaboration with Van Oord on the development of a next-generation vessel for Subsea Rock Installation (SRI), recently ordered by Van Oord. These newbuilds mark a significant advancement in offshore infrastructure and sustainability.

Working in close concert with Van Oord’s technical team, Ulstein supported the selection of the optimal vessel size and configuration, carefully balancing technical parameters to meet functional requirements. The result is an extended basic design package, approved by Bureau Veritas, that aligns with Van Oord’s commitment to operational excellence and environmental stewardship.

Ulstein’s design approach placed a strong emphasis on supporting Van Oord’s sustainability goals and dedication to the energy transition. The design has been developed with future-proof capabilities in mind, enabling more efficient and environmentally responsible subsea operations.

We are honoured to have been selected by Van Oord for this important development,

said Dolf Manschot, project manager at Ulstein.

Our teams have worked seamlessly together to shape a design that not only meets stringent technical requirements but also advances the transition to a more sustainable maritime future. We look forward to seeing the design brought to life at Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore.

Ulstein extends its congratulations to Van Oord and Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore on the signing of the shipyard contract and is committed to supporting the next phase of this landmark project with continued collaboration and dedication.
