A new milestone achieved for yard number 322 – Keel laying ceremony completed

The keel laying ceremony at Crist hull yard 06 August 2024 symbolizes that yard number 322 is one step closer to realization. The CSOV vessel, based on a TWIN X-STERN platform designed by Ulstein Design & Solutions AS, will be capable of performing a vast range of operations, including Operation & Maintenance and construction support.

The news about the construction of two Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (CSOVs) newbuilds were announced in January 2024. The contracts were signed by Ulstein Verft and JP Morgan Asset Management, the latter on behalf of institutional investors, and include two options. 16 May 2024, we celebrated the steel cutting ceremony of yard number 322, and now, as the keel laying ceremony is officially completed, we look forward to following this exciting project as the hull is assembled at Crist hull yard in Poland, before it is towed to Ulstein Verft in Norway for its continuing phases. The vessel is scheduled for delivery in 2026.

A workhorse for offshore installations

The 89.6 m Construction Service Operation Vessel will be equipped with a hybrid battery propulsion system and prepared for green methanol fuel to enable carbon-neutral operations. The vessel holds 111 cabins with accommodation for up to 132 persons. The vessel will also have a large, centrally positioned walk-to-work motion-compensated gangway, an elevator tower for personnel and cargo transfer, and a 3D compensated crane capable of 5-ton offshore cargo lifts. The optimised on-board logistics include large storage capacities and a stepless approach to offshore installations. The hull design translates to outstanding seakeeping capabilities in challenging weather and sea conditions.

Shipyard collaboration on standard auxiliary ships for the Norwegian Navy

The Royal Norwegian Navy has an ambition to acquire series‑produced, standardised naval vessels. This requires ships that are versatile, robust and future‑oriented, yet cost‑effective to build. Few shipyards in Norway can meet this challenge. Together, Larsnes Mek. Verksted (Larsnes) and Ulstein Group (Ulstein) have extensive experience and strong references in the design, construction, and maintenance of vessels. They collaborate to offer a solution that ensures the efficient production of naval ships.
