Keel lay BSO

Keel laying for Bernhard Schulte's next CSOV from Ulstein

Both the Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (CSOVs) that Bernhard Schulte Offshore ordered from Ulstein in 2023 are currently under construction. In February, a keel lay ceremony was held for the first newbuild, Yno 320, at Crist hull yard in Gdynia, Poland. Now, the second vessel, Yno 321, can celebrate this important milestone.

The hulls of both vessels are being prepared by Crist before they embark on their journey to Ulstein Verft in Norway. Here, the vessels will undergo several critical phases. They will be outfitted and painted, go through electrical installations and equipment integrations before they are commissioned and readied for sea trials.

The CSOV projects are on track for delivery next year and will be classed by DNV and built to NIS flag requirements. Once completed, they will play a crucial role in supporting offshore wind farms, maintenance, and service operations.

Thorium-powered: ULSTEIN THOR zero-emission ship concept sparks major interest

Since unveiling the Thorium-powered ULSTEIN THOR design in April 2022, we have been swept by a wave of interest in the concept vessel and its unparalleled potential and capabilities. Set in a polar cruise context, ULSTEIN THOR alone could generate over 50 GWh of energy in a single 150-day cruise campaign. The result would be a significant environmental impact in Antarctica, with over 32,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions prevented.
