Olympic Notos ready for offshore W2W operations after conversion

“This project demonstrates Olympic’s ability to execute complex vessel modifications in close collaboration with the client, the shipyard, and key suppliers. Olympic Notos will now undergo offshore testing and will soon be ready to deliver safe and reliable W2W operations on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. We look forward to the start-up at Yggdrasil,” says Marius Bergseth, COO at Olympic.

The vessel is equipped with a motion-compensated gangway, enabling personnel to live onboard while ensuring safe and efficient access to offshore installations. The gangway also plays an important role in the field’s safety setup.

The conversion has required extensive integration of new systems and equipment, carried out through close collaboration between Ulstein, Olympic, and Aker BP.

With Olympic Notos now completed, the project marks another milestone for Ulstein Verft’s growing aftermarket activities, demonstrating how existing vessels can be adapted to meet new operational requirements and future needs.

Mastering walk-to-work operations

The total number of walk-to-work (w2w) vessel designs and redesigns by Ulstein now counts 22, of which 16 are currently in operation. On average, these vessels perform repair and maintenance on more than 5,000 turbines every year! That makes a stunning 95,000+ gangway connections!
