Upgrading tonnage to a new life
A shipowner's decision on upgrading a vessel into an updated, ready-classed version, or converting it to a new segment can lead to increased interest and a firm contract. We can convert any vessel into a new type, with our offshore-tough ULSTEIN know-how at the basis.
Delivered early 2000 by Flekkefjord Slipp AS as an offshore vessel with multiple possibilities. After having taken delivery of the vessel, the Owner decided to convert the vessel to a high capacity cable laying vessel. The vessel was rebuilt by Ulstein Verft AS for delivery 2000.
Built as a Cable Laying and Repair Vessel. The vessel underwent a major conversion in 2004 at Ulstein Verft to a deepwater subsea construction and umbilical lay DP vessel, and was chartered by Sonsub Saipem.
Ulstein Verft is a compact and complete ship yard, with excellent facilities to secure the best possible quality on every process in the outfitting, integration and finishing of the vessel, as well as ship repair and conversions. All assets are in walking distance from the yard administration offices.
Crane lift and transport
Ulstein Verft specializes in heavy lift and transportation services. Our flexible equipment solves a wide array of lifting and transportation challenges on land and at sea.
Vessels must be ready
The International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships' Ballast Water and Sediments (BWM) was recently ratified and will enter into force on 8 September 2017. Shipowners must undertake actions to avoid the threat of invasive aquatic species into the marine ecosystems.
CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) methods aim at reproducing numerically the 3D flow around the vessel, resulting in key information about the model or full scale forces acting on the vessel, its motions, power consumption and hydrodynamic performance in general.CFD simulations
